Zircon is a silicate mineral found in small quantities in a large variety of rocks and can be quite diverse in its colouring. Of particular relevance here and to us, is that some crystals are of high gemstone quality. Zircons are mostly reddish brown, but can be orange, yellow, white, yellowish brown, purplish red, light red, blue, green and sometimes, just to maintain an air of mystery, colourless!
